The following information is for the Math Curriculum Meeting on 11-11-2013 and can be used by the Math Committee to bring back to math teachers at their grade level.
On a notecard, write 2 "Aha's" and 1 question that these 2 videos bring to your mind. After writing them down - find 2 other people to share your thoughts.
Look at the following 2 documents. The first linked document contains examples of current 7th and 8th grade assessment questions. The other document contains example Common Core assessment questions for 2014-2015 from the Smarter Balanced Consortium.
After reviewing the assessment questions, find a partner to discuss:
- How are they alike/different?
- Are math classrooms today in our school preparing kids for these new performance task assessment questions?
Explore the gap documents below for grades at your level. Note the grades with the largest differences in color and consider how this will affect students and teachers as we move forward.
